Effect of Selection and Linkage on Inbreeding

Abstract

Gill and Clemmer performed an inbreeding experiment by using Monte Carlo simulation techniques and reported that both selection and linkage significantly increased the rate of inbreeding in a population of a given size. The results could not be explained by the theoretical explanation that linkage should not affect in� breeding coefficient in the absence of selection.
