α-Acetylhypoconstictic Acid, a New Depsidone from the Lichen Menegazzia dispora

Abstract

The depsidone, α- acetylhypoconstictic acid (5-acetoxymethyl-1,4- dihydroxy-10-methoxy-8,11-dimethyl-7 H- isobenzofuro [4,5- b][1,4]benzodioxepin-3(1 H),7-dione) (6) has been synthesized and shown to co-occur with atranorin, chloroatranorin, hypostictic acid (3) and hypoconstictic acid (4) in the lichen Menegazzia dispora.The latter depsidone has been isolated and purified for the first time.
