Abstract
The processes of globalisation in the 21st century raise the issue of interaction between different cultures in Europe, as well as the development of a global culture and the preservation of the uniqueness of national cultures. This requires an investigation of different types of cultural interaction and their impact on the national identity of peoples. The purpose of this study was to analyse the demographic situation, consider the assimilation interaction between cultures, and the possible consequences of its use, and to predict the demographic situation in the context of the relevant variant of interaction between European cultures, or to change the scenario of combining different cultures to improve the situation in European countries. The principal methods employed in this study included the analytical method, which was used to analyse demographic indicators and the impact of assimilation on cultures; the comparative historical method, which demonstrated the specific features of the impact of assimilation on the interaction of cultures in the experience of the United States in the 20th century. The study concluded that state regulation should be maintained to support the demographic situation of countries and Europe as a whole. Furthermore, it was found that to create more favourable conditions for migrants and the native population, it is necessary to use the assimilation method in different degrees for different countries. It was also noted that a balanced approach would prevent both excessive unification and cultural isolation on the European continent. The findings of this study suggest that the implementation of the assimilation method will contribute to the development of suitable conditions for the integration of migrants. Such conditions should include both the preservation of migrants’ rights and the cultural identity of the native population. The practical value of this study is that its findings can serve as a basis for further in-depth investigation on the impact of cultural interactions on the demographic situation of European countries
