Abstract
We present a genome assembly from an individual female bumblebee hoverfly, Volucella bombylans (Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence is 1,213.2 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 6 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 17.15 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 12,774 protein coding genes.
