Abstract

Abstract The triangle mesh has become extensively utilized in many different industrial domains due to the quick advancement of computer-aided design and production technology. For the additive manufacturing of the triangular mesh, the slicing procedure is an important process step to generate the sliced contour. However, the simplify model data will expand to redundant data over this computer data processing operation. This paper focus on the geometric relationship of the triangular mesh and concludes several rules for the intersection points and their retrieved vertices. Based on these rules, a direct sliced contour generation method is presented and achieved by some data operations for the classified vertices. Finally, this proposed method is implemented through computer programming and validated using multiple test models. This proposed method can realize the sliced contour generation of the rapid prototyping systems, which avoid the redundant data with the hidden relationship at the same time. And the concluded rules of the geometric relationship can be applied to the related industrial applications.
