Abstract

Abstract Background The increasing popularity and acceptability of minimally invasive facial cosmetic surgery (MIFCS) among young Syrians has had a significant impact on various aspects of society. Despite this, there is a limited amount of research available on the prevalence of MIFCS and the level of awareness among college students. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of MIFCS and the factors associated with it among Syrian college students. Methods The study targeted 644 participants in collecting data for this research, and the data were studied according to a statistical analysis. Results The results showed that females have more knowledge about these procedures than males, and that females are more experienced in non-surgical cosmetic procedures. These procedures are very expensive, and therefore the economic factor referred to as the level of income has a decisive and major role in resorting to non-surgical cosmetic procedures of all kinds. College students are a target demographic for these procedures because of their desire to improve their appearance and maintain their youthfulness. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures are most commonly performed on individuals between the ages of 35–50. Conclusion Health care providers should be aware of differences in awareness of non-surgical cosmetic procedures among students in different fields of study and years of study, to provide appropriate counseling and education.
