Abstract
In this research zeolite‑X encapsulated M(II)-L complex (M = Co, Cu and L = 6,6'-((1E,1'E)-(ethane-1,2-diylbis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(2-methoxyphenol)) was selected as an efficient heterogeneous catalytic for the oxidation of atenolol as beta-blocker. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the absorbance of oxidation product at λ = 350 nm and thin layer chromatography (TLC). Some parameters including concentration of catalyst, concentration of H2O2 and reaction time were investigated and optimized. Approximately all atenolol has been oxidized after 120 min in the presences of M-L-X as catalyst, H2O2 as oxidant and optimizes conditions. Study of recovering and reusing of catalyst show the regenerated catalyst can be used for several times with negligible activity losses compared to first time.
