Abstract
Abstract
A novel compound, 2-(morpholino)ethylammonium picrate monohydrate (MEAPM), was synthesized using the equimolar ratio of 4-(2- aminoethyl)morpholine and picric acid. . With the slow evaporation solution growth technique, single crystals of the synthesized compound were grown. A single crystal X-ray diffraction study revealed that MEAPM crystallizes in a triclinic system with space group P. The functional groups of the title compound were confirmed by FTIR analysis. A UV-Vis-NIR optical study indicated a cut-off wavelength of 370 nm. The UV-Vis-NIR spectrum was also used to calculate the optical parameters, such as the linear absorption coefficient, linear refractive index, and extinction coefficient. The two-photon coefficient absorption coefficient and third-order optical nonlinearity of the grown crystal were investigated using the Z-scan technique. The order susceptibility is found to be 2.96x10-11 esu. A dielectric study on MEAPM revealed a dielectric constant and dielectric loss at higher frequencies. The various hardness parameters were calculated via a Vickers hardness study. The work-handing coefficient is found to be 5.2. The thermal stability of the sample was investigated by TG-DTG analysis.
