Abstract

Abstract In this paper, a novel and facile method is reported for the synthesis of 2-thioxoquinazolinone. For the synthesis of the products, a reaction is introduced based on the molecular iodine catalyzed reaction of 2-aminobenzyl alcohol and isothiocyanates in DMSO. The reaction is simple and the products are obtained in good to excellent yields. FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra were used for the exact characterization of all the products.
