Abstract

AbstractThe authors report on a terahertz band wireless communication experiment employing a resonant tunneling diode receiver (Rx) and uni‐travelling carrier photodiode transmitter. An intermediate‐frequency based transmission facilitates a low‐complexity envelope‐detection type Rx architecture for complex‐modulated signals. Forward error correction recoverable data‐rates using quadrature phase shift keying modulation and 16‐level quadrature amplitude modulation are 60 and 68 Gbit/s, respectively.
