Abstract

Information and communication technologies can be a driving factor towards the resolution of social challenges and assertively contribute to the development of people and regions. The objective of this chapter is to present a mobile application designed to contribute to the inclusion of Migrants in the city of Viseu in Portugal. The methodology used to support the study was a design science research of creating the artifact to involve the various stakeholders in the process. The main results emphasize the relevance in organizational context of the use of information and communication technologies to bridge the gaps underlying the various social challenges and to develop innovative solutions so that the access to information is global and ubiquitous. In this sense, it is considered that the IntegraBrasil mobile application contributes to the well-being and integration of migrants, given the difficulties they face when they arrive in Portugal.
