Abstract
Libraries as institutions are involved in the development and support of writers throughout their careers. With their roles as community spaces and their involvement in collaborations across multiple sectors, libraries are able to provide a wide range of benefits to an equally wide range of creatives. Library offerings designed to promote literacy and further connections to the literary world are accessible and provide an entry point into an often-daunting artform. Research showcases the variety of library programs targeted at building core skills and experiences in writers. There exists further potential for libraries to act as leaders in creative instruction and foster a creative collective to inspire future generations of artists.
