Abstract
This chapter argues that there is a problem with the way the global village perceives women, especially African women. Women are viewed through a mono-vision that is informed by Western tests and sensibilities. This perception jettisons deliberately the reality that women are shaped by their environments. The chapter posits that women are different because their wants and needs are diverse. The mono-vision ignores the reality that women are part of law and regulations making in different politico-cultural enclaves. These acts are as old as African communities and cultures. Africa has suffered interruptions from Western-centric thoughts and impositions that view all women as the same, with the West embarking on a recruitment exercise targeted at the ruination of the African family where women are the major pillar. For the West, to successfully recruit African women to what is presented as a global women's cause is the final onslaught on the African family and what it means to be African.
