Abstract
Education witnessed tremendous changes with the rapid digitalization, which revolutionized conventional approaches and opened up new avenues for interaction between educators and students. While there is no doubt that digitalization has created new potential, it poses some critical hurdles that are in need of urgent addressing. In light of this, this chapter will delve into analyzing the changes of teaching and learning under a new digital era by particularly drawing focus on the higher education system in Malaysia. Next, a review will be provided on the impact of such changes on the learners as well as on the educators. In addition, the authors examine the obstacles encountered and benefits that can be obtained with the evolution of education under digitalization pressure. It is increasingly imperative for us to re-evaluate institutional structures, educational policies, and the overarching goals of higher education. With the embracement of the potential digital technologies, educators and policymakers can collaboratively design a future-proofed educational landscape.
