Abstract

British writer, Mary Shelley's book “Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus” was based on the films Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein. This famous story tells of a human's curiosity to know and his/her ambition to create and to have an important characteristic of God's immortality. This study explores literature-cinema dynamics using structuralist narrative theories and also Vladimir Propp and Aristotle's narrative theories will be taken into consideration. British literary theorist Terry Eagleton has stated that each text builds on the texts written before it. The relationships between Frankenstein's texts will also be analyzed from an intertextual perspective. The story has a connection with the mythological story of Prometheus who stole the fire will also be mentioned. The story of Frankenstein is told through metaphors of human's use of science and technology in his/her struggle with nature and his/her succumbing to his/her ambition.
