Abstract
Integrating smart grid technology with 5G and fiber optic systems offers significant improvements in efficiency and resilience, but also presents substantial cybersecurity challenges. This study examines the necessary standards and regulatory compliance for secure implementation, highlighting the importance of adhering to guidelines from organizations like 3GPP, ITU, IEEE, and IEC to ensure robust security and interoperability. Fiber optic infrastructure, essential for fast and secure data transmission, requires stringent physical security and advanced encryption techniques to protect against manipulation and attacks. Additionally, compliance with privacy laws such as GDPR is crucial for handling sensitive data. Organizations must continuously monitor and update their cybersecurity measures to address the evolving threat landscape, ensuring the integrity and reliability of smart grid infrastructures.
