Abstract

In this study, various metrics derived from secondary data are used to assess the extent of women's empowerment in India. As evidenced by the survey, women in India continue to have less status and influence than men, despite multiple government attempts. The number of people who can obtain jobs and education varies based on gender. Depending on factors like age, education level, and employment, women's freedom of movement and decision-making power in the home differ significantly. Women are still accepting gender norms that are not equitable in society, it has been found. The final say in how they are paid has gotten less for women. Women receive less media attention than males do as well. It is more common for rural women than urban ones to experience domestic abuse. The gender gap in political participation is also very noticeable. According to the study's conclusion, achieving the goal of empowerment mostly depends on people's views towards gender equality, even though access to employment and education are only enabling factors.
