Abstract
This chapter explores the multifaceted landscape of governance policies within international human resources (HR). It suggests six pivotal dimensions that shape effective governance strategies in multinational corporations. Firstly, it examines the dynamics of inter-company relationships in knowledge creation and dissemination, emphasising collaborative mechanisms. Secondly, it analyses international assignment policies, evaluating their impact on talent retention and global mobility. Thirdly, it addresses the challenges stemming from cultural backgrounds of staff, highlighting strategies to navigate diverse cultural landscapes. Fourthly, it studies the management of international assignments and the criteria for selecting adept global managers. Fifthly, it investigates local staff reactions, emphasising the phenomenon of opposite ethnocentrism and strategies to mitigate its effects. Finally, it assesses the design of HR management systems tailored for global contexts.
