Abstract

The current study determined the mortality awareness of mothers and fathers two months after the earthquake disaster that happened in the southern provinces of Turkey on 06.02.2023. The study employed the survey model, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group is comprised of 151 people. The data of the study were collected by using the multidimensional mortality awareness scale. In the analysis of the collected data, independent samples t-test and one-way ANOVA were used. The findings of the study revealed that the participants' mortality awareness levels vary significantly depending on the variables of gender, experienced losses, and status of psychological harm. It was concluded that the participants' mortality awareness decreased as a result of the psychological assistance received after the earthquake as activities aiming to reduce anxiety were conducted during the psychological assistance process. Conducting similar studies with different groups is suggested in order to gain more detailed information about mortality awareness.
