Abstract
Global renewable power capacity is growing. The intermittent nature of wind and solar, in particular, and the difficulty in forecasting generation lead to fluctuations and sometimes sudden increases in electricity prices. This leads to the need for more energy to balance the grid power. Through energy storage, the effect of these uncertainties can be partially eliminated, and potential price fluctuations can be prevented. Electricity generation from renewable sources has been increasing in Türkiye in recent years. In addition, recent legal regulations have paved the way for the installation of large-scale energy storage facilities. This chapter highlights the recent global and domestic developments in renewable energy policies and their potential reflections. The future of energy storage in Türkiye is also discussed.
