Abstract
This study explores the integral role of logistics in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15, “Life on Land,” which aims to combat desertification, restore and protect terrestrial ecosystems, manage forests sustainably, reverse land degradation, and halt biodiversity loss. While logistics traditionally focuses on the transportation of goods, its environmental impact and potential for promoting sustainability cannot be overlooked. This chapter delves into the environmental impacts of logistics, particularly land degradation and biodiversity loss caused by infrastructure projects like highways and new road constructions. It also examines innovative technological practices such as drone shipments, which offer reduced carbon footprints, lower emissions, and faster delivery times, contributing to green logistics. Additionally, the chapter compares the Belt and Road Initiative (OBOR) and the Intermodal Europe Conference (IMEC), highlighting their contributions to sustainable logistics.
