Abstract

The use of advanced technologies in drones has revolutionized the field of security, offering new possibilities for surveillance, reconnaissance, and response. However, these advancements also bring forth significant security challenges that need to be addressed. This chapter explores the security challenges associated with advanced drones and the measures taken to mitigate those challenges. The focus is on drone forensics, data privacy and security, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, counterfeit and weaponized drones, lack of authentication and identification, jamming and interference, and the implications of these challenges in security contexts. The chapter also discusses the measures being taken to address these issues, including regulatory frameworks, geofencing, counter-drone technology, technology advancements, collaboration and information sharing, research and development, and international cooperation. It emphasizes addressing the security concerns with drone technology balancing the benefits and ensuring the safe and secure integration of drones into various sectors.
