Abstract

A MLIMS is a software used in medical laboratories to manage testing activities and operation of the laboratory services. MLIMS plays a very important role in the utilization and archiving of medical laboratory tests' results, thereby providing overall quality of healthcare. A computerized MLIMS evolved to collect, record, arrange, display, back up results, and manage the medical laboratory finances in a suitable way. A survey was carried out among medical laboratory staff in Nigeria with the aid of Google form shared in WhatsApp platforms and responses taken for their use, applications, and security of MLIMS. From the survey result, 81.8% are aware of using MLIMS in medical laboratory practice; 98.2% accept the use of MLIMS application in medical laboratory practice; 97.3% agree with the result sharing with clients through MLIMS and Internet; but 59.4% use equipment that is MLIMS compliant or linked in their facilities; 50% have security in their MLIMS and computers; and 43.6% have WiFi or internet services for 24hrs in their facilities
