Abstract
Based on the sample data of Chinese A-share listed manufacturing enterprises in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2015 to 2022, the relationship between specific traits of entrepreneurship and enterprise performance in manufacturing was explored in depth and tested empirically. The results show that (1) entrepreneurial risk taking, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy all have a positive and significant effect on enterprise performance; (2) Entrepreneurial innovation and initiative all have a negative and significant effect on enterprise performance; (3) Entrepreneurship has a positive and significant effect on enterprise performance in different economic regions, but it has a greater effect on enterprise performance in regions with lower economic levels. Based on the above findings, five suggestions are made: stimulate and cultivate entrepreneurship; increase R&D investment and the proportion of R&D personnel; use financial leverage to improve ROA; increase enterprise market share and size; pay more attention to the cultivation of entrepreneurship in regions with lower economic levels.
