Abstract
In the digital age, safeguarding financial data has become paramount amid increasing cyber threats and data breaches. This chapter explores the transformative role of blockchain and distributed ledger technology (DLT) in enhancing financial data security. Through practical applications and detailed case studies, the chapter illustrates the real-world implementation and efficacy of blockchain and DLT in the financial sector. Security features intrinsic to these technologies, such as decentralization, cryptographic hashing, and consensus mechanisms, are explored in depth, highlighting their contributions to a more secure financial ecosystem. Furthermore, the chapter addresses the regulatory landscape surrounding blockchain and DLT, discussing both the challenges and opportunities posed by these innovations. By presenting a comprehensive analysis of the current state and future potential of blockchain and DLT, this chapter aims to provide valuable insights into how these technologies are reshaping the approach to financial data security and resilience.
