Abstract

This chapter considers the potential transferability of pedagogic practical techniques currently utilized and implemented within the context of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to Community College (CC) settings. Using an example from UK postgraduate students the chapter provides an insight into a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, of the implementation of a pilot study of a newly implemented Peer Assisted Student Support (PASS) and Supplemental Instruction (SI) Programme. The evaluative commentary reveals the relevance of this pedagogical support to the generic provision of learning enhancement opportunities which have the potential to be readily integrated into CC settings. This may have the potential to increase the confidence and provide an increased sense of social inclusion and belonging to the institution within which it is carried out.
