Abstract
This study aims to explore the influence of leadership styles on the job satisfaction of teachers at a Chinese transnational higher education university and at an international school. This study uses qualitative research methods and in-depth interviews to investigate the job satisfaction and dissatisfaction among four educators working at transnational higher education providers. The findings suggest that teachers working at a private university are generally satisfied with their work, especially when it comes to leadership providing guidance and trust. However, work load and wage equity are sources of concern, along with disorganization, punitive fines and interpersonal relationships in a K12 school. This study advocates the provision of employee-friendly working conditions and the enhancement of the teacher welfare to improve workplaces.
