Abstract
Electronic voting is a topic that has been developing with the idea of applying technology and facilitating the process, however, the main objective has always been the reliability and confidentiality of the vote. The possibility of applying an emerging technology such as Blockchain has been visualized due to its characteristics such as immutability, that is, it cannot be changed or altered, however, some studies have found challenges for its implementation. This chapter addresses the state of the art of electronic voting, the strategy of electronic voting in Smart-Government, the security and transparency of electronic voting through Blockchain, as well as the structure of the blockchain. In addition, the operation of smart contracts as a tool for implementation and important concepts such as consensus algorithms are explained.
