ICTs, Youth, Education, Health, and Prospects of Further Coordination

Author:

Abstract

Despite the important role of youth, large portions of this group are often marginalized. Among the most common tools to promote youth in developing countries are ICTs. This chapter investigates the use of ICTs for youth promotion in developing countries. The first section examines the relationships between ICTs and youth in education, health, employment, and governance. The following section investigates the main concerns related to ICTs and youth in developing countries, mainly in Africa, Asia, and the Arab region. The last section of the chapter deals with the potential provided by ICTs in promoting further coordination. Each of these sections uses statistical evidence about the relationships between ICTs and the youth access to education, health, and to further social networks.
