Abstract
We study the motional emf generated by squeezing an elliptical conducting loop traversed by a constant magnetic field. The circumference of the loop remains constant in the elastic regime, acting as a non-trivial constraint. We numerically find the dependence of one axis of the ellipse on the other and hence calculate the rate of change in area and the ensuing emf. We discuss possible applications of our findings.
