Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this paper is a promising development of methods for the roadbed design in the conditions of polygonal terrain and the presence of underground ice (ice, formation and polygonal-vein underground ice) and the analysis of the perspective for the for railway construction Arctic Zone. The choice of a criterion is made, on the one hand, according to the to the data of daily survey practice and the relative ease of establishing indicators of natural conditions responsible for the development of subsidence, on the other hand, according to the most objective reflection of the conditions of the sedimentation process. As tools of engineering protection of an embankment body which is located in the territory of distribution of the polygonal relief (polygonal vein ice), it is offered to produce local thermal insulation of the soils of the foundation of the embankment body and the adjacent territory in order to preserve the ground ice in the frozen state.
