Abstract
This paper investigates the fire resistance and electrical properties of composite materials with a base polymer of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers (EVA)-Low density polyethylene (LDPE) blending material and an additive of unmodified fly ash (FA) and modified by vinyltrimetoxysilane (MFA). The results of the fire resistance survey show that the LDPE/EVA/(FA and MFA) composite materials all have lower fire rates than the polymer blend LDPE/EVA. Fly ash particles have the potential to limit the combustion of organic polymers. Insulating properties and dielectric strength of LDPE/EVA/MFA composites are better than LDPE/EVA/FA composites. Unmodified fly ash and VTMS modified may partially reduce the insulation capacity of the polymer blend LDPE/EVA but remain within the requirements of good insulating materials.
