Abstract
This work proposed the utilization of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma to lengthen the shelf life of Namwa bananas. The samples of fresh Namwa bananas were packaged by different technique to carry out the study into the effect of DBD plasma on the ripeness of Namwa bananas. It was found that Namwa banana ripening could be delayed by DBD plasma treatment, suggesting that DBD plasma is a potential technique for shelf life extension of climatic fruits.
