Abstract
Abstract
The Regge–Teitelboim formulation of gravity, which utilizes dynamical embeddings in a background space, effectively introduces a source term in the standard Einstein equations that is not attributable to the energy–momentum tensor. We show that for a simple class of embeddings of the k = −1 Robertson–Walker metric in a flat five-dimensional background, this source term generates cosmic acceleration.
