Abstract
Abstract
Negative stiffness (NS) structures possess distinctive mechanical properties and exhibit promising potential for diverse applications. In this paper, we presented an innovative hierarchical design to further enhance the capabilities of NS structures. The dynamic and static performance of the normal and hierarchical cylindrical NS structures were investigated and compared with experiments and numerical simulation. The results demonstrated that the hierarchical structures displayed superior cushioning performance relative to the traditional one. The presented approach offers a novel method to enhance cylindrical NS structures and serves as a valuable reference for future research in this field.
