Abstract
The urban environment has a problem with non-exhaust particulate matter, which is linked to a number of health problems. The pavement characteristics that control the emission due to abrasion wear of studded tyres, as well as due to wear of the tyres and brakes, are related to non-exhaust PM10 emissions. Resuspension of surface-accumulated road dust is a significant additional impact. In light of this, the goal of the paper is to provide a summary of road dust sources, non-exhaust PM10 emissions, the consequences of road dust on the well-being and the efforts made by various researchers to collect the road dust using dust accumulators. It is observed that exposure to road dust was damaging to the human body, particularly the respiratory system.
