Abstract
A simple analytical method, cheap and biologically friendly, to find Ni (II) in drinking water was developed by dithizone immobilization in chloride polyvinyl matrix (PVC) and dioctyl phthalate as plasticizers. Nickel is a toxic and dangerous metal for humans and the environment. The step experimented with making a membrane sensor next to the step characterization of membrane sensor with UV-Vis spectrophotometry, atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS), and characterization with SEM. The absorption of Ni (II) ion has caused the change of color from green to brownish red with maximum absorption in 418 nm and the optimum response of membrane sensor gaining on pH 8,8. The proposed membrane sensor size is 1 x 2 cm, and the sample volume is 2 ml with a 0 - 0.06 ppm concentration range. The method that had been applied to determining Ni (II) in a water sample after the addition of standard solution with a recovery of 82.93-109.49 % in UV-Vis spectrophotometry, while atomic absorption spectrophotometry measurements obtained a recovery of 104.11-107.96 %. The Nickel contained in drinking water cannot exceed the regulation of quality drinking water by PERMENKES RI No: 907/KEMENKES/PER/VII/2010.
