Performance of cowpea at two differents planting season in sandy soil

Abstract

Abstract Performance of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) in two different planting seasons in sandy soil was affected by base fertilizer application. Significantly, cowpea has responds to organic fertilizers. These treatments allow cowpea growth better. This research consisted of two phases, following the season i.e., planting season II/October 2020 to March 2021 and planting season I/April to September 2021. The first planting was aimed to study the effectiveness of three types of organic fertilizer treatment, with nine replications. The second planting was done without additional organic fertilizer that consisted of nine replicates (continued from the first planting). This research that was carried out at visitor-plot of Central Kalimantan AIAT in 2020 to 2021and it was arranged in a randomized block design consisting of 4 treatments, namely: (A) control/without fertilizer; (B) 5000 kg/ha goat manure; (C) 5000 kg/ha cow manure; and (D) 5000 kg/ha chicken manure. The results showed that organic fertilizer (chicken manure) had higher yields both in the first planting and second planting compared to inorganic fertilizer.
