Abstract

A method of demonstrating cellulose utilization in biological systems by measurement of the turbidity of a cellulose suspension in a photo-electric absorptiometer is described. The crystalline styles ofOstrea edulis and Mytilusedulis appear to contain a cellulolytic factor as yet uncharacterized.
