Studies in the physical properties of soils: II. A note on the cohesion developed by capillary forces in an ideal soil

Abstract

Using the conception of the “ideal soil” a calculation has been made of the cohesion due to the capillary attraction between the particles when wetted. Experimental verification of this theory is afforded by cohesion tests on the ignited silt fraction separated from soil.
