Abstract
Abstract
Non-aqueous pools overlying the sediment in the St. Clair River near Sarnia were examined by GC/MS and found to contain tetrach1oroethene, tetra-, penta- and hexachloroethanes, chlorobutenes, chlorobutadienes, chlorohexadienes, heptachloro-and octachlorostyrene and octachloronaphthalene. The composition of the sample suggested that the source of the pools was not a simple spill of tetrachloroethene as originally thought since a number of the compounds identified have been previously observed in industrial wastes.
