Abstract
The K/L and K/M conversion ratios of the 769 keV and 609 keV γ-radiations of Po214 have been measured with a double focusing β-spectrometer. For the K/L ratios we obtained the values 3,95 ± 0,2 and 3,43 ± 0,1.
According to the tables of ROSE, both transitions are very pure E 2 radiations. This coincides with the conclusions of the theory of collective quadrupolvibrations. This theory—in the modified form of WILETS and JEAN —was used for the interpretation of the low-excited levels (609, 1378 and 1416 keV) of Po214.
Following this model of γunstable quadrupolvibrations one obtains for the nuclear equilibrium deformation the value β0 6,7 · 10 –2.
