Synthesen von Adenin und Guanin aus Ammoniumcyanid und Cyansäure in Zeolith X / Synthesis of Adenine and Guanine from Ammonium Cyanide and Cyanic Acid in Zeolithe X

Abstract

Abstract Adenine (1) is formed in substantial amounts (about 1% yield) by heating ammonium cyanide absorbed in zeolithe X for several days at 120 °C. If both, ammonium cyanide and cyanic acid have been absorbed, 1 and guanine (2) are synthesized under the same conditions. These experiments provide the first demonstration of the possibility of a spontaneous synthesis of these essential constituents of nucleic acids and of important coenzymes in a silicate.
