Abstract
The structure of acetonitrile solutions of Mg(ClO4)2 at two concentrations (c = 0.38 mole/1 and 0.74 mole/1) is studied by neutron diffraction. The results are interpreted by a simple structure model. A good description is achieved for c = 0.38 mole/1 by an octahedral surrounding of Mg2+ by acetonitrile molecules. For the higher concentration the fit results in a mixture of tetrahedral and octahedral surroundings
