Infrared spectroscopy with laser sidebands at microwave modulation frequencies Infrared spectroscopy with laser sidebands at microwave modulation frequencies (12-18 GHz) is described. After the basics of this technique several examples of saturation spectroscopy on gaseous molecules are given. As a result it is shown that, in the infrared between 900 and 1100 cm-1 this broadband tunable laser source achieves resolution (3 parts in 109) as well as absolute accuracy in frequency measurement (± 3 x 10-6 cm-1) which are comparable to microwave spectroscopy.
