Abstract

MoS2, WS2 and TiS2 react with K-naphthalid-solutions to intercalation compounds KxMeS2. Na- and Li-naphthalid reduce the sulfides to metal, but in the case of the sodium-compound the first step is intercalation to NaxWS2. Li-HMPT-solution reduces MoS2 to Lix (HMPT) nMoS2 and finally to Mo. The reasons for the differences in the reactive behaviour of the alkali-naphthalid-solutions are discussed.
