Synthesis of some isocardenolide analogs and 17β-maleimidoandrostane of westphalen structural type

Abstract

A series of analogs of cardiotonic steroids belonging to Westphalen structural type has been prepared. These compounds are derived from 17β-(2-maleimido)-5-methyl-19-nor-5β-androst-9-ene, (20E)-21-ethoxycarbonyl-5-methyl-19-nor-5β-pregna-9,20-diene and 5-methyl-19,21-dinor-5β-chola-9,22-dien-24-20-olide.
