1. At the end of June 2009 there were 2198 entities listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Of these, 2062 were listed companies (of which 1980 were Australian based) and the balance were listed managed investments, issuers of debt securities only and non-tradeable securities.
2. One difference is that the listing rules require disclosure even where information is generally available, whereas the disclosure obligation under s 674 relates only to information that is not generally available and, if it were generally available, a reasonable person would expect the information to have a material effect on the price or value of an entity’s securities.

4. Other entities must make disclosure to ASIC.
