J Am Coll Radiol. 2017 Jun: 14(6):841. This paper is one of the classic references in global radiology teaching and education from a Western prospective, sending American medical students and (developed world) radiology residents to improve radiology and imaging services in low resource settings. It also promotes technology adoption, which should accommodate local resource availability within clinical contexts, with strong emphasis on program planning, ethical processes, preproject due diligence, and long-term training of personnel to sustain the high-impact use of radiologic technologies. However, it does falls short of addressing the key point of our paper, the essential need for training (local, visiting faculty, and remote) of native health care providers/personnel, and the assurance of sustainability/retention to remain as working practitioners in the country where they are/have trained.
